How To Reduce Stress

Meditation, breathing and positive mantras may seem a bit ‘whacky’ to you if you are not aware of it’s practises and benefits, but rest assured you will soon learn how incredible deep breathing is for  your health.

People tend to hold their breath and create tension in the body whenever they become uncomfortable, this could be in any form from any source. What is interesting is that this reaction is the exact opposite to what you should be doing in these circumstances, allowing you to remain calm, balanced and in control of your mind and body.

Some of the amazing benefits include:

  • Detoxification of the body
  • Cleansing of emotions
  • Clarity and focus
  • Healthier heart, lungs and organs
  • Improves immune system
  • Increases energy levels
  • Improves your mood

Here is a simple exercise you can do to increase your health, mental wellbeing and reduce stress dramatically:

Find a quiet place, if this isn’t possible then you may need to get up before your household does.

Sit in a chair finding a neutral, upright and relaxed position.

Still your mind and let go of any thoughts and emotions you may be feeling.

Focus on breathing in through the nose for 5 seconds, holding it for 2 and exhaling out of the mouth for 8.

The out breath is the part that actually relaxes you, giving you an ideal 4 breaths a minute. Try to focus on taking the air into the belly, bypassing the superficial ‘chest up’ shallow breathing that most people do, this is how a baby breathes and it’s the natural form of execution.

Let me know how it feels start using it now to get the benefits, many people read but do not actually implement, this is where the magic happens :-).
