Using smart goals for success is the quickest way to get results!
Here is how you can apply SMART to achieve your health and fitness goals this year!
The more specific you are, the more likely you are going to take appropriate action to achieve it. If you don’t know where you are going, how do you know what you need to do? For example “I want to lose 10KG in the next 12 months, reaching my ideal weight 88KG” is more specific than “I want to lose weight”.
Being able to measure how close you are to achieving your goal is essential to know whether you are on track, It has to be something concrete. For example, “in one month, I will weigh 2KG less” rather than “I will be happy”. You can enjoy success in achieving your goals which increases your motivation!
Do you have the finances, knowledge, experience or even time to do it? If you don’t have the money, you can save more, earn more or even take a loan. If you have little free time, create some for yourself by reducing non-essential tasks. If you don’t know how to do something, educate yourself or hire someone to help you get there such as a Personal Trainer.
You are the only one who can decide how high up the ladder your goal should be, make sure it’s something which motivates you with an adequate level of challenge involved. Also, are you really willing to put in the work that is required to get there? Be honest with yourself. You may find it’s something you really don’t want to pursue and you may need to go back to the drawing board.
Have deadlines in your diary creates a sense of urgency, making sure you stay on track within your overall goal. This also sets your unconscious mind in action to achieving it.
Start by writing things down and just get started!
